IT’S a venue out of the ordinary for the Yorkshire Wind Orchestra.
But members will be taking it in their stride when they make their first-ever appearance at the National Coal Mining Museum near Grange Moor tomorrow.
The Yorkshire Wind Orchestra – woodwind, brass and percussion – is a quality ensemble made up of players from throughout the region.
The orchestra focuses on contemporary composers – particularly British – and encourages the development of young wind and percussion players in Yorkshire.
It will be playing a selection of music by Holst, Grainger, Horovitz and Ellerby under conductor Keiron Anderson.
Tickets cost £10 and are available from the museum by calling 01924 848806 and on the door (subject to availability). The concert starts at 7.30pm.
