GARRY Cutt, who conducted a number of Christmas concerts in Huddersfield Town Hall just weeks ago, has a new post with Brighouse and Rastrick Band.

Garry conducted the band at concerts with both Huddersfield Choral Society and Colne Valley Male Voice Choir in the run up to Christmas.

He has been taking some rehearsals and conducting some of the band’s concerts for two years and has now agreed to increase his time commitment to Brighouse and Rastrick.

Accordingly Garry has assumed the title of the band’s Principal Guest Conductor with immediate effect.

Professor David King will continue to be responsible for 100% of the preparation and delivery of all contest work, thus ensuring that Garry has no conflict of interest with his responsibilities as the new Professional Conductor of The Fairey Band, based in Stockport.

Garry said: “It's a great job to have. Brighouse are one of the three big names in English banding that play concerts to capacity audiences.

“In many ways I have got the best of all worlds. Quality concerts with B&R; the four major contests with Faireys, and of course, freelance conducting abroad, when time permits".
