THEY are faces and places from the area we live in and they will be on show in Huddersfield until March 27.

Photographer David Arnison’s exhibition, Faces and Places (from cobbled streets to marbled halls, has already been seen in Dewsbury.

Now it will occupy space in Huddersfield Art Gallery, its pictures offering a glimpse of life around West Yorkshire, some of the images going back to the 1980s.

“Some of the photographs on display here were taken more than a quarter of a century ago,” said David.

“I would occasionally wander down through the Batley and Dewsbury area from my home in Morley, looking to capture the urban landscapes and the diverse and friendly characters to be found therein.

“This was before deregulation and for a small sum, one could travel for miles within West Yorkshire, using the public transport system.

“Hence, I would visit places further afield, like Halifax, Huddersfield and Hebden Bridge, in order to find new subjects. Morley to Halifax all for 30p!”
