KIRKLEES young musicians have been playing swing and brass much to the delight of the audience at Thornhill Parish Church for a long time now.

Tomorrow they get the chance to hear Kirklees Youth Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Thom Meredith.

The church is delighted to have been able to include an orchestra of this size and quality in the church for the first time.

Many of these young players credit the church for their love of music and say they will now make it the career. The majority of the players have also already acheived Grade 7 in their studies.

It’s a musical treat of a high standard with which to open the new series at Thornhill. Tickets are £6 ( concessions £5) Children if accompanied can enjoy the concert free of charge.

Next concert in the series is on December 8 when Hepworth Band makes a welcome return to Thornhill. The championship section band will have the Clifton Handbell Ringers as their guests for an evening of pre Christmas music.
