There's a big musical event in store this weekend at St Thomas’s Church in Longroyd Bridge.

The West Yorkshire-based wind ensemble, Quintaphonics will play a programme of British Chamber music. It will feature the world premiere of a piece by York-based composer Jonathan Brigg and in all, three composers are expected to attend.

The concert is on Saturday, October 26 at 7.30pm and the musicians are Maria Ackroyd, Andy Ainge, Kathryn Packer, Tes Matthews and Rebecca Rooke.

The programme includes music by Purcell, Burgess, Maconchy, Golightly, Arnold, Parker, Cordell and Bullard.

The church is in Manchester Road and tickets are £7 and £3.50 from Kirklees booking offices on 01484 223200.

This is a rare opportunity to hear work by a young quintet of professional musicians championing British music.
