EXPECT a pair of phantasmagorical musical performances at the Penistone Paramount this weekend.

Donald MacKenzie, resident organist at the Odeon, Leicester Square will be bringing his West End performance to the Paramount tomorrow.

He will play a mix of popular music, including songs from the shows, a Strauss waltz or two and lots of great toe-tapping music.

On Sunday Donald will play a second time. He will return to the organ console to provide the musical accompaniment to the 1925 silent film classic – The Phantom of the Opera, which stars Lon Chaney.

Donald is a master of the art of silent film accompaniment and for those who have recently enjoyed the award-winning film, The Artiste, this special one-off screening is not to be missed.

The Compton Organ at the Paramount is actually larger and more mighty than the Compton Cinema Organ he plays for the Royal Film Premieres.

Both events starts at 2.30pm.

Tickets for both events are available from the Paramount box office on the day of each performance or by telephoning 01226 767532.
