Jonathan Yates and Stephen Hurrell will be here with you all day highlighting the biggest deals for Amazon Prime Day 2016 - a sales event the online retailer claims is bigger than Black Friday. With thousands of discounts on electrical goods, fashion and beauty, toys, games and music items, the sale offers huge discounts for a limited time period.

Amazon Prime Day is available to Amazon Prime customers, but there is a way around this without shelling out for the £79 per year subscription. Simply sign up for a free trial of Amazon Prime and you get 30 days free. If you cancel the subscription before the 30 days is up you can take part in the deal day without paying for the full subscription.

That’s all from us today as many deals begin to come to an end. However, the Amazon sale continues until midnight tonight so keep checking back to see more added.

There are lots of bargains on Amazon. This is not one of them.

eBay deal day

Other online retailers are trying to take back some of the shoppers from Amazon Prime’s juggernaut of a sale. The main rival seems to be eBay, which has deal including 20% off Dyson products, fashion discounts and money off other electronics.

You can browse the eBay deals here.

  • Customers in London were all smiles as they favoured the Oral-B Pro electric toothbrush deal, whereas up in Birmingham, Bose Earphones were the favourites.
  • In the north east, customers in Newcastle were keen to upgrade the storage capacity of their PCs, as they favoured the Crucial Internal Solid State Drive offer.

  • One of the favourite discounts for South Yorkshire customers was the Kindle Paperwhite where sales were strong.

Manchester's top deal revealed

Amazon have told us what have been the most popular deals of the day so far. It turns out Manchester is mad for Bose Earphones, which was the top seller in the area. It was closely followed by the Fire 7” tablet.

Amazon Prime Day is making people crazy. These all had a lucky escape.

The most expensive Amazon Prime deal item

The most expensive Amazon Prime Day deal has a measly £193 reduction. Priced at £749.99, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 12.3-inch tablet is the most expensive thing you can buy today. It comes with Windows 10 and acts as a tablet but can also turn in to a full powered laptop.

You can shell out for it here.

New deals arrive

A huge amount of fashion items are about to be released. These include Levi’s jeans for women and Tommy Hilfiger jeans for men, party dresses, wedding dresses and t-shirts. There are hundreds of deals going online from 2.30pm onwards.

More problems on the US version of Amazon, where technical problems mean many people cannot add items to their cart.

There have not been similar problems reported for the UK site.

Deal of the day for new parents?

For new and expecting parents, this might just be the deal of the day. A Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Essentials Starter Kit is just £49.99 - that’s a saving of £90 on the RRP of £140.

The deal has a little over an hour left and 62% of the sets are claimed. The set includes everything you need to begin bottle feeding, including milk powder dispensers, medium flow Closer to Nature teats, a bottle and teat brush, a set of teat tongs and even one of Tommee Tippee’s range of 0-3 months pure soothers.

Technical issues?

Some people are reporting issues with adding items to their cart. It seems Amazon is experiencing high levels of traffic on Prime Day and that is causing a few technical issues.

Ending soon!

There are a number of deals ending in the next few hours.

Playstation 4 and Xbox One games will soon be gone - Batman Arkham Knight is just £13 for the next few hours, while Tom Clancy’s The Division is £25 for a short time only.

But let’s return to what Amazon Prime Day deals are all about. Massive TVs. There is less than three hours left on a deal for a Sony Bravia 48-inch HD Smart TV with Freeview, HDD Rec and USB Playback. It’s currently £399, down from £660.

It’s worth reiterating: Some Amazon Prime Day deals are better than others.

Cheap gin

Cheap gin alert! You have a little over 11 hours to order a 70cl bottle of Tanqueray No. Ten Gin for just £19.99. It says it is a premium Martini Cocktail gin and has been voted the best white spirit in the world three years in a row. Not bad.

Best Amazon Prime Day deals - Beauty

A bevy of beauty deals have been revealed.

2) Blush Brush Set - Essential 6pc Make Up Kit, £9.50 (was £29.95)

What is Amazon Prime?

It’s probably a good time to visit exactly what Amazon Prime is. If you’re new to the concept, here’s some information:

Prime is a service that offers shoppers unlimited streaming of 15,000 movies and TV episodes and access to 800,000 Kindle books along with unlimited one-day delivery for £7.99 a month or £79 a year.

To sign-up or take advantage of a free trial of the service on July 12 visit amazon.co.uk/primeday

Making Haye with Amazon Prime deals

Well, that was unexpected. He’d probably be able to search the deals easier if he took the gloves off first.

Best Amazon Prime Day deals - Parents

Parents shouldn’t feel left out today. Wearable technology and PS4 games may dominate the top picks, but there’s plenty for parents to take advantage of.

1) Trunkis, the loveable critter-shaped suitcases, are down to £22.

2) You can save £65 on a Motorola baby monitor complete with 3.5-inch colour screen. Now £64.99.

3) Halilit Baby Band Musical Instrument Gift Set prices are now £9.09, down 30%.

Best Amazon Prime Day deals - Shoes

The biggest clothes discount of the day is for Vans trainers. They are up to 50% off. That means a starting price of a little over £20. Fill your (canvas) boots.

Good work Paul. It’s £10 off anything ordered from Amazon Pantry if you spend over £50 today.

The best Amazon Prime Day deals - entertainment

The bulk of people heading to Amazon are looking for deals on electronic items, but there are a host of deals on entertainment items ranging from computer games to books to ‘Exploding Kittens’. That’s a board game, and we’re sure no kittens were harmed in the making of it.

Here are three of the best:

1) Unchartered 4: A Thief’s End - The popular PS4 game is now £31.99, down from £43.82. It’s proving to be one of the most popular deals of the day.

2) Exploding Kittens - This is a card game for people who are into kittens and explosions and laser beams and sometimes goats. It’s £10.39 if you want to try to get your head round that.

3) Adult colouring - Colouring books for adults all the rage. Deals start from around £12 for the latest in adult colouring books.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

In the UK there will be new offers every five minutes for customers across all departments and product categories, and purchases will be available to pick up in a selection of locations.

The catch is - you have to be a Prime member - which costs £79 for the year and gives you access to free delivery and deals such as this.

But if you want to skip the cost and still enjoy the Prime Day then you can start a free one-month trial and cancel it before the month is up.

The biggest discount so far is a whopping 76% off this Oral B toothbrush. However, we reckon 66% off the complete Game of Thrones box set is probably going to be more popular. It’s down from £66 to £22.

Other Top Deals chosen by the retailer include 40% off TVs, a Playstation 4 bundle for £240 and a third off wine.
