SINGER-songwriter Claire Mooney returns to the Lawrence Batley Theatre tonight with a festive edition of Sound Women.

A regular event at Huddersfield’s LBT, the evening profiles and platforms female performers with “something to say”, be they songwriters, singers, spoken-word or poets.

This event returns for a sixth year at 8pm tonight with a Christmas edition line-up which includes Claire Mooney plus some of the finest up and coming female performers form the worlds of music and word-smithery, Acoustic Ash and Sarah Evans.

Claire, who hosts the show, is described as a ‘radical chanteuse’. Her music has been defined by her passion and her politics.

She writes of protest, peace, justice, love and life. Her performances contain a blend of passionate, playful and political songs.

Acoustic Ash is a prolific songwriter whose work ranges from political poetry to interpreting everyday events such as loss, love, and money.

She has played in America and more recently China, as well as numerous festivals in England.

Up and coming comedy actress Sarah Evans, writes of love and justice bringing engaging witty words to the terrific trio that is the Festive Sound Women.
