ST JOHN’S Players are bringing a mix of pop culture and magic to their pantomime at St John’s Church in Golcar next week.

On March 26, 27 and 28, they will perform Strictly Pantomime.

To set the scene, the characters have been having problems finding work for the panto season so agents – the Demon King and Fairy Queen – set out to find them work.

In a bid to boost their skills they attend acting workshops with the Fairly Odd Mother, which leads to some unusual antics.

Imagine the Queen of Hearts reciting Hamlet’s soliloquy or Widow Twanky doing Lady Bracknell.

This is a show with dancing, acting, singing and a little bit of magic.

There’s something for everyone and plenty of laughs.

To find out which characters bagged their dream roles get down to the church early for a good seat.

Performances are at 7.15 each night plus a 2.15pm Saturday matinee on March 28.

St Paul’s Amateur Dramatic Society celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. And to mark it, the Dalton group will indulge in some fun by staging the pantomime Dick Whittington on March 26, 27 and 28 with each show starting at 7.30pm.

The group formed in 1949 and its first production was The Ghost Train in March 1950.

Tickets for the panto cost £4 for adults, £3 for children or £10 for a family ticket (two adults, two children).
