A six-week summer exhibition is underway at a gallery in Brighouse.
The Harrison Lord Gallery is hosting a collection of original work and selected prints featuring many different artists of varying styles.
Included in the line up is Rachel Grant, a mixed media artist, whose working process has led to a distinctive style.
That style is achieved through layering collage, found materials, screen print, transfer print, acrylic paint and machine embroidery. These multiple layers evoke a sense of history, building up metaphors for layers of time, experience and memory, says Rachel.
She graduated from Buckinghamshire University in 1999 with a degree in textile design and surface decoration.
Rachel took a career break in order to spend the early years with her two children before becoming a freelance artist in 2005.
She now works from her home studio that she shares with her partner and artist Paine Proffitt in Stoke-on-Trent.
The Brighouse exhibition also includes pieces by Amy Charlesworth from Bradford.
Amy’s stunning photo-realistic paintings won her first prize in the Bradford Open four years ago.
Based in Bradford, Amy completed her BA fine art degree at Leeds Metropolitan University 10 years ago.
She has since exhibited across the region and in Scotland.
Amy works in oil on canvas, bringing a vibrant rich colour to all she portrays.
Her subject material ranges from industrial machines to landscapes, flowers and still life.
Amy has undertaken commissions for a number of individuals and local businesses and her work has travelled as far as Australia, India and South Africa.
There will be a warm welcome too for Paul Talbot Greaves, a well-known local watercolorist whose work is much admired.
