BARBRA Streisand (inset) played the lead role on film 20 years ago. Now see the courtroom drama, Nuts on stage in Dewsbury.
The Dewsbury Arts Group production of Tom Topor’s gripping courtroom drama, opens on May 5.
Nuts has been described as a highly emotional drama which is both engaging and entertaining.
It is certainly a play which offers a very different slant to the usual courtroom story where the focus is often on someone proving their innocence of a crime.
Here, Topor features someone fighting to stand trial rather than be diagnosed as being ‘mentally unfit to stand trial’.
After all, to be committed to a psychiatric hospital could well mean the equivalent of a life sentence with no chance of an appeal.
Watch out then for a cleverly crafted piece of theatre.
The show runs at Dewsbury Little Theatre, Batley Carr, from May 5 to 9 at 7.30pm. Tickets (£7.00 with concessions at £6.00) on 01924 465647.
