SHE acts, sings, dances and directs, so what next? Write a Panto!
That’s what Margaret Warmington of Spot On Musical Theatre fame decided to do.
There is no end to her talents as you will see when Margaret’s all-new version of Robin Hood opens at Moldgreen United Reform Church, Wakefield Road, Huddersfield, on November 29.
There’s no typecasting in Margaret’s topical script which is why her panto features that famous Jedward pair; Bruce Forsooth and Tess d’Urberville giving us a twirl; a visit to the Masterchef Kitchen with a sprinkling of Olympic Fever to-boot.
Elizabeth Priest, fresh from the Society’s last knock-out production of Acorn Antiques, plays Robin alongside Kathy McCauley and Jane Birdsall (see what Mrs O does on her days off).
Paul Lomas makes a long awaited return to the amateur stage with his daughter Miriam, who at just six years old is the company’s youngest member.
When the company needed some archery practise (or perhaps just a nice green field for their publicity shots!) they headed off to Meltham where the Valley Bowman welcomed them to their archery HQ and let them into a few archery secrets in preparation for the ‘live’ Golden Arrow Tournament – watch out for low flying arrows!
Assisted by Elizabeth Priest, Margaret Warmington also produces and choreographs this hilarious show.
Margaret Dutton is musical director. She has played for Spot On since the society’s first performance in 1991.
Evening performances will run on November 29 and 30 at 7.15pm. There are two shows on Saturday December 1. Tickets are available for the 5.30 performance.
Tickets are £7 and £5 from Moldgreen Post Office; or by phone 07951 446580.
