IT’S ALL change for All Souls’ Amateur Operatic Society in Halifax.

The society should have been staging Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne at Halifax Playhouse in April.

Now, due to circumstances which the society say are beyond its control, it will be putting on one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s perhaps lesser known operettas, The Sorcerer.

“With the change only coming in the middle of December, the company now has the challenge of learning the music and words in time to start floor rehearsals at the end of January,” said a society spokesman.

Members of the Halifax Gilbert and Sullivan Society will be joining their colleagues from the operatic society but there’s also an open invitation to anyone else who knows the show to join them and make this a magical production.

If you are interested in helping out then contact the show’s musical director, Colin Akers on 07714 618358.

Rehearsals start at The Studio Rooms, 11 St James Street, Halifax, on January 3 at 7.30pm.

The show runs from April 9-13 with evening performances at 7.15pm and a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm. Tickets on 01484 721617.
