If this week’s chill has given you a touch of the winter blues then head for Shelley tomorrow (November 23) for a show guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Come to the Cabaret is the invitation from event organisers at Shelley Village Hall.

They are hosting the Edinburgh Fringe satirical sketch show, From Here to Absurdity.

Written and performed by Private Eye contributor Richard Kelly, From Here to Absurdity comprises 90 minutes of original comedy sketches that recall the hey-day of Peter Cook and Beyond the Fringe.

The show has already been seen at venues across the country and has headlined at both the Edinburgh Fringe and Chicago Sketch Festival.

Richard will be joined on stage by Ashley Hern, formerly of Oxford University Revue, and Lucy Simons, a stand-up comedienne familiar to Manchester and Liverpool audiences.

They say their sketches will range over all those inescapable topics, “death, divorce, dysentery and dementia.”

The team say that anyone with a hatred of political correctness and anything invented after 1980 are also likely to find something amusing.

So if you like the sound of live comedy that’s a bit different to stand-up and that makes you think, then Shelley’s the place.

Local singer Shadelle will round off the show, transporting the audience back to the great age of cabaret with her rich and mellow vocals and songs you know and love.

The show starts at 7.30pm, tickets £20 including hot supper from Shelley Spar Stores or on 01484 604486.
