Gyles Brandreth is obsessed with words.

Founder of the National Scrabble Championships, president of the Associated of British Scrabble Players and a formidable contestant on BBC Radio 4's Just A Minute , the writer and broadcaster has spent years writing and performing shows about the power of the written word.

His new show Word Power! has hit the road after a stint at last year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe, with a stop in Leeds on May 23.

Brandreth's described th show as a 'roller-coaster ride around the amazing world of words'.

He said: "It’s a show that should make you laugh and might even make you cry. It’s based around my lifelong love of words and includes stories from my life in the theatre and politics.

"It’s a show for people who love live theatre and who enjoy listening to Just A Minute or watching QI."
