Take a picnic and your  best detective skills.

For super sleuth  Sherlock Holmes has  one of the biggest cases  of his life on his hands.

Head for Oakwell Hall  on Wednesday August  21 to watch in awe as  Holmes, the trusty  Watson and comrades  from Chapterhouse  Theatre Company seek  to unravel that enduring  mystery, The Hound of  the Baskervilles.

The Chapterhouse  actors are regular  visitors to stately homes  across the country and  Oakwell Hall is now an  annual stopping off  point on  the companys  tours.

On this trip, it seeks to  recreate the  lonely  wasteland of the  desolate Devon moors.  Something evil is afoot.

When death stalks the  Baskerville family,  legend and superstition  collide. And on the  moors, no-one is safe.

Feel the chill in this  outdoor murder mystery  adapted for  Chapterhouse by Laura  Turner.

So how did Laura set  about adapting one of  fiction’s best known  characters for the stage?

“Sherlock Holmes is an  enigma, that is what  makes him so  interesting,” said Laura.

“I am really interested  in characters that are not  easily defined, that  cannot be put into a box   or labelled as good or  bad.

“I think this makes him  a realistic role model for  today’s audience. We  have a fascination with  this character. The recent  resurgence of film and TV  adaptations  demonstrates that we are  increasingly interested in  characters with a dark  side. And throughout the  story, whilst we are trying  to solve the mystery we  are also trying to work  out Sherlock and what  his motives are.”
