It's your chance to hear first hand about what’s in store this autumn at Huddersfield’s Lawrence Batley Theatre.

In recent years, the LBT has thrown open its doors at the start of the season to let its supporters hear from directors and artists just what they have been working on.

Victoria Firth, the theatre’s artistic director, will be joined on Thursday, September 12 by some of those responsible for creating work which you can see on stage at the LBT this autumn.

Wendy Harris is from Tutti Frutti, the theatre company which has been making exciting theatre for children for 21 years.

It is teaming up with the LBT and York Theatre Royal to create this year’s Christmas show which will be a new take on the classic children’s story Rapunzel.

Wendy will direct the show which promises to delight children with imaginative and visual story-based theatre.

Amanda Huxtable is well-known in the region for her skills as an actor, writer and director.

She lives in Huddersfield and has formed Hidden Gems Productions, a new theatre collaboration working with writer and producer Marcia Layne.

The company creates bold and compelling work from rarely told black British stories and its latest show, Bag Lady, is part of the LBT autumn season.

Conrad Nelson from Northern Broadsides will also join the preview night team.

Conrad is resident director of Broadsides, one of the country’s leading and most innovative performers of classic drama.

His latest work with the company includes directing Accidental Death of an Anarchist and A Government Inspector, which both played to big houses at the LBT.

He’s back, with Broadsides, this season directing the company’s latest production, The Grand Gesture.

The preview evening wouldn’t be complete without live performance and that’s where award-winning Yorkshire singer /songwriter Roger Davies comes in. He will be previewing his October LBT gig.

Entry to the preview night is free but availability is limited so you are advised to book. Start time is 6.30pm.
