THREE couples, each with their own lives to lead and tales to tell.

And the Pierrot Players are telling Alan Ayckbourn’s Absurd Person Singular in their own style.

Instead of its traditional Christmas setting, the Players stage Absurd Person Singular at Easter time – fitting as that’s also when it runs.

It visits three couples in their kitchens on three successive years.

The Pierrot Players have cast regular and new actors for the play, which is Carrie Ford’s first role as director for the Players.

She said: “I love Alan Ayckbourn’s work and it has been a great honour to bring a wonderful piece of writing to the Shelley stage.”

The cast includes Andrew Firth, who returns after a 20 year absence with the Players to play Sidney Hopcroft – and he’s directed by his sister Carrie in the play.

Anna Bushell as Jane Hopcroft is a regular while John Varlow, as Geoffrey Jackson, has appeared in the last two Pierrot plays.

Jolene Varlow, as Eva Jackson, was last seen acting as a stroppy 30-something in their production of Sandcastles.

David Firth, as Ronald Brewster-Wright, has a long interest in drama going back three decades, but only joined the Players in 2005.

Heidi France completes the cast as Marion Brewster-Wright and has been with the company for a decade.

Pierrot Players Absurd Person Singular runs at Shelley Village Hall from April 11-14 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5. Visit www.pierrotplayers.com for more details.
