THEY are three young actors who look as if they have barely left college themselves.

This week they are giving lessons at Huddersfield’s Lawrence Batley Theatre on how to wow an audience.

Kristina Boothroyd, Rachel Elsley and Dean Robson delighted the Cellar Theatre audience with a first night performance filled with laughter.

John Godber’s play Teechers was his response to his pre-playwright career as a teacher.

But in his tale of life in a modern comprehensive Godber lets a trio of fifth-formers do the talking.

And in this new Thespians’ production, directed by Tony Haywood, who is himself an accomplished actor, a trio of young talent rules the stage.

Dean has worked with the Thespians backstage on recent productions, but his previous acting experience – some of it with the National Youth Theatre – made him decide it was time to get back in front of the spotlight.

And he has done it in style this week alongside Kristina and Rachel enjoying their first taste of carrying the flag for the Thespians.

Kristina has played in productions in Halifax and Rachel has appeared with the Shelley-based Pierrot Players.

Little wonder that the Thespians are delighted to see a new generation storming the stage and packing in the audiences.

Evening performances continue tonight, tomorrow and Saturday at 7.45pm with a matinee at 2pm on Saturday.
