Quest for the Summer Wine bike ride

Sign up online for this free guided road bike ride around Last of the Summer Wine country. Covering 27 miles, the challenging route passes through Kirkburton, New Mill, Holmfirth and Denby Dale before returning to the start location at Holmfirth Pool. Helmets must be worn.
Rip It Up & Start Again at The Artworks
11am-4pm, The Artworks, Shaw Lodge, Shaw Lane, Halifax
First-ever artist book, print and ‘zine fair, Rip It Up & Start Again, opens at The Artworks, Shaw Lodge, Shaw Lane, Halifax. This former textile mill, now art school, studios and gallery, is bringing together more than 25 illustrators and comic book artists who draw, write and print their own material. Open from 11am until 4pm. The venue is opposite The Shay sports ground.
In Your Face at the National Media Museum

Opening of Bradford’s National Media Museum’s summer family experience, In Your Face. This exhibition includes interactive displays, live demonstrations, challenges and the opportunity to indulge in selfie taking. It explores the most-examined, photographed and expressive part of the human body – the face. Visitors can create a facial profile using the latest police technology and add decoration; learn about special effects and theatrical make-up; or trace the influence of the emoji. The museum is working with Changing Faces, a charity that works to eliminate discrimination based on physical appearance. In Your Face is open until October 30.
Summer show at Kershaw Garden Centre

First-ever summer show at Kershaw’s Garden Centre, Brighouse. There’s free entry for anyone who wants to show vegetables, fruit, herbs, flowers, arts, crafts, baking and photographs. There’s even a section for family dogs. From 10am until 4.30pm, schedules are available from the garden centre or by emails firstname.lastname@example.org Prizes will be awarded at 3pm.
Big Bower Beer Festival

Hall Bower's annual beer festival will feature more than 40 real ales, an international lager bar, a barbecue and Dixons Ices. Revellers can enjoy a Freddie Mercury tribute act on Saturday afternoon, and band Days of Riot on Sunday afternoon.
