Four days, 90 stalls, food from around the world and and a good mix of real ale, cocktail and craft beer bars to wash it all down with! Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival is back for its 16th year, with tens of thousands expected to visit over the weekend. Live music will fill St George's Square for Festival at Dusk, and top chefs will share their culinary secrets in the Demo Kitchen. Tuck in!

Emley Show

Away from the hustle and bustle of the Food and Drink Festival, there's family fun beneath the mast at Emley Show. With dozens of animal classes, stunts shows in the main ring and even vintage tractors, it's a proper Yorkshire day out for all the family. Tickets can be bought on the gate.

The Real Ale and Cocktail Trail

Don’t forget the Real Ale and Cocktail Trail encompassing 14 town centre pubs and bars. The taster event, which will run until Sunday August 7, encourages drinkers to try featured real ales, ciders and cocktails at each of the trail venues, collecting stamps along the way. Pick up a card from any of the participating venues, then collect at least eight stamps to pick up your limited edition engraved glass from the Slug and Lettuce or the Sportsman.

Dotty the Dragon at Lawrence Batley Theatre

The Blunderbus Theatre Company present two outdoor peformances of Dotty the Dragon in the Lawrence Batley Theatre Courtyard on Saturday. The family show, recommended for three to 10-year olds, tells the tale of a baby fire dragon who lives in a dusty old castle — but longs to play with the children in the village below.

There are two performances, 11am and 2pm, and tickets cost £7. Feel free to bring your own blankets and chairs.

Magic Rock Food and Drink Festival

On Sunday, you’ll fine Magic Rock’s Food and Drink Festival a short stroll away from the town centre. From noon-9pm, the Willow Lane brewery will play host to ten food stalls, DJs and of course, lots of craft beer. Entry is free.

Anarchy in the Ukulele at Hot Banana Music

Punk rock covers played on ukuleles! Head down to Hot Banana Music on Saturday, 4pm-5.15pm, to join the fun for £4 per session, no need to book. All abilities welcome, call 01484 767535.
