Flames and torches will fill the night sky next month when the Imbolc fire festival returns.

The Imbolc celebration will be held in Marsden with a spectacular fire festival.

Thousands of people are expected to attend the event after volunteers worked to raise the money needed to hold the festival.

Based on ancient pagan traditions, the Imbolc festival will include a huge processions from the Old Goods Yard and a dazzling fire show at Tunnel End.

The 2016 Imbolc fire festival will be held on February 6.

The procession will start at 7pm.

In the run up to the festival, organisers are hosting lantern and mask making workshops.

The workshops will be held on January 23 and 30, 10am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-3.30pm at Standedge Visitors Centre, Tunnel End.
