A lucky winner will soar above Meltham Memories Wartime Weekend on Saturday.

The Hands Off HRI campaign is raffling off a half hour flight over Meltham worth £160 to raise money for the fight to save Huddersfield's A&E department.

The flight is for two people and will leave from Crosland Moor airfield at 4pm.

Raffle tickets cost £2.50 and will be sold at the Hands Off HRI at Meltham Memories on Saturday, and the winner will be drawn at 3pm.

The flight has been donated by Meltham Memories to the Hands Off HRI group.

It’s the 8th year of the 1940s festival , which commemorates everything from the big band music and vehicles to the military uniforms and fashions of the period.

Last year it was estimated that around 8,000 people converged on the village.

This year’s weekend will feature fly-pasts by two Spitfire fighters on both Saturday and Sunday.

Flights over Meltham can also be bough online for £60 per person from melthammemories.co.uk
