A woman was found taking her dog for a walk on the M60.

Traffic officers spotted the female and her pooch on the hard shoulder at junction 24 at D enton Island around 9.30am on Tuesday morning.

A spokesman for North West Motorway Police said: “We got a phone call about a female walking a dog on the hard shoulder of the motorway.

“Police responded, arrived at the scene and there she was strolling along,

“She was taken into the officer’s vehicle for safety and given advice.”

He said when she was asked why she was walking on the motorway, she replied, ‘I needed to take the dog for a walk’.

North West Motorway Police tweeted about the incident.

“Patrol on the M60 has just responded to a pedestrian walking a dog on the motorway the lady is now safely in the officers vehicle.

“In relation to the lady and the dog on the M60 both are safely in the police vehicle.”

GMP Traffic also tweeted about the female.

“One of our Sgt’s just picked up a woman walking her dog on the hard shoulder of the M60 Motorway near Ashton. You could make it up!”
