AS the parent of a young child all manner of fiction passes under my nose.

The current favourite bedtime read is Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy.

He along with Bottomley Potts (all covered in spots), Muffin McClay (like a bundle of hay) and, my favourite (pictured) , Schnitzel von Krumm (with a very low tum) plus a few other canine comrades enjoy a series of adventures.

But it appears there is a new series of kids books I should keep my eye out for.

England and Chelsea football Frank Lampard is to write a series with the imaginative title ‘Frankie’s Magic Football’.

Is it about a multi-millionaire who is shacked up with her who got the bullet off Daybreak? Sadly not.

Nor is it about any of the other cheeky escapades his fun-loving Blues team-mates have got up to over the past few tabloid years.

Frank’s books will be about, well, young Frank, his footy-loving mates and his dog called Max.

Frankie v The Pirate Pillagers will be published in June this year.

It’s probably best that it’s fiction
