I LOVE my job – it’s a privilege to play music and talk for four hours a day (even though we have to get up at 4am!).

An important part of the job is to take part in charity events, the more bizarre the better to really make an impact.

This year we are raising funds for Kirkwood Hospice on November 1 with a Make A Difference Day.

On the BIG Yorkshire Breakfast we’re all used to carrying out odd, dare I say bizarre, ways of fundraising.

Here are just a few examples:

Paul once spent a week chained to another presenter which meant he had to endure comments such as “Ooh! How do you spend a penny? Ha ha ha….ha!” all that week and the week/month/year after (what fun!).

The fundraising challenge I remember most was eating bugs, worms and live crickets (pictured) on air as part of a bush tucker trial. I’m pleased to report that this wasn’t as unpleasant as you may think, plus I was following a low carb diet at the time so a bug breakfast was perfect. I doubt the bugs would agree though.

So the pressure is now on to find something suitable that we can do as a team – so we’re looking at fire walks.

Danny Mylo is considering doing something scary from a great height, Jacqui Blay always impresses and Craig the boss and weekend presenter spent last week eating the hottest curry known to man in science goggles and heat retardant mittens.

We should point out at this point that this is Craig’s idea of FUN!!!!!! Craig honestly sprinkles chilli powder on his cornflakes so I daren’t even think of what he’s going to stun West Yorkshire with.

We’ll keep you up to date with what’s happening but feel free to let us know if you have any suggestions at @paulanddebbie or www.pulse.co.uk
