THE Graham Philpott memorial gig is being held at The King’s Head in Huddersfield on Thursday, June 27.

Adrian Bottomley, who organised the sale of CDs of Graham’s work with Buzzard, Welcome and Ckreed to raise money for a plaque, says the line-up will be George Grey, Geoff Layton Bennett, Steve Carter and John Sunter, with a guest singer.

Graham was the flamboyant frontman of Huddersfield blues band Ckreed for decades. He was a local rock and roll hero who should have been a national star.

Adrian sent me a photograph of the memorial plaque to be erected at The King’s Head, the venue where the band played regularly in recent years.

He adds: “Have you spotted the mistake?”

Instead of legendary, it says ledendary. Graham’s brother Peter spotted it.

“I can't help wondering if Graham is having a laugh,” says Adrian.

Without a doubt, Adrian. Without a doubt.
