RITA McDonnell has a treasure trove of old photographs of her step-grandfather Hamby Beaumont and his family.

She says: “My grandfather, John Chapman, died in 1936 and my grandmother, Harriet Chapman, married Hamby in 1937. They lived at the off- licence up Almondbury Bank and later in a cottage on Nettleton Road, Dalton. They died around 1952.

“Hamby was born in 1875 in Emley to Wright Beaumont and Adeline Butcher. Wright was a coal miner. I would really appreciate it, if you could help me return these photographs to his family.”

Rita says some of the photographs are really old and she is loathe to throw them away. So if any member of Hamby’s family would like them, contact me and I’ll put you in touch.
