KEITH Mallinson enjoyed my piece about the joy of take-away food.
“It reminded me of a time when the Chinese take-away was new and quite rare. In the mid-70s, I got the taste and remember a particularly good Chinese takeaway in Elland. I lived in Linthwaite and my only form of transport was a motorcycle.
“I rode over to Elland for my sweet and sour pork with boiled rice, then dashed back to enjoy my meal. Shock, horror, when I opened my top box, the sweet and sour was distributed all over the inside of the box.”
This was the carrying box on his motorbike.
“Luckily, there was nothing else in the box and it was fairly clean,” Keith says.
Fairly clean? What does that mean? But it was certainly not unclean enough to deter an enthusiast with an all consuming appetite.
“I was able to transfer the contents onto a plate, which I reheated for my supper. Very nice it was too!”
Keith, you deserve a take-away medal.
