SIXTY years on from their original big day, wedding guests returned to celebrate a Beaumont Park couples marriage.

Noel and Elaine Livesey met at a Huddersfield youth club during the war and were married at Linthwaite Church on November 20, 1951.

They had three children and lived in the Colne Valley.

Mr Livesey, who hails from Slaithwaite, began his career as an apprentice at David Brown Gears at Lockwood before joining the Merchant Navy, where he rose to the position of superintendent engineer.

Mrs Livesey, who is originally from Linthwaite, worked as a dressmaker at King Street tailors Thomas Kayes.

She later became a dairy maid on her fathers farm at Linthwaite.

The couple eventually moved to the south east when Mr Livesey began working for Shell Tankers in London but returned to Huddersfield in 1983 when he retired.

They celebrated their wedding with a party for 40 guests at Meltham Golf Club.
