THE Charity Dreamgirls, founded by Huddersfield-born Kate Hardcastle, set themselves a fund-raising rock star challenge.

In just six hours they had to transform themselves into six iconic girl bands for a calendar photoshoot at Leeds City Museum.

With the help of make-up artist Stacey Ambler, hair stylist Abi Pike and photographer John Moorehouse they succeeded in their mission and are now selling copies of the calendar for three charities – Overgate Hospice, The Willow Foundation, which is dedicated to bringing special days to the seriously ill between the ages 16 and 40, and The Retail Trust, an organisation with a helpline and retirement homes supporting those working in retail.

Kate and her fellow dreamgirls, Jenny Smith and Kate Peters, were photographed as The Bangles, Girls Aloud, The Runaways, The Tonettes, All Saints and The Andrews Sisters.

Kate Hardcastle said: “I knew we’d set ourselves a big challenge, but it’s our fifth year of supporting smaller, lesser-known charities around Yorkshire and I want to do something special.”

The calendar, entitled Decades, will be available from the www.charitydreamgirls.co.uk website, price £7.

Since its formation the girl group has raised more £10,000 for its charity partners.

In 2011 the three singers will be auditioning for a fourth member and there are plans to find a fifth before the year is out.
