_ BLUEBELL Garden Club Open Evening – this well established local garden club that meets at St John’s Church, off Rowley Lane, Lepton has invited a well known local florist, Janine Sully of The Greenhouse (formally in Lindley) to run a workshop on a spiral style of flower design. Members and non-members are welcome and this informative and hands-on evening gets underway at 7.30pm, Tuesday, August 2.
_ HUDDERSFIELD Flower, Vegetable and Handicraft Show – this year’s show is once again at Ravensknowle Park. This wonderful local show highlights the talents of lots of local people and organisations. The show opens on Saturday, August 13 at 1pm and closes at 4.30pm and then re-opens on Sunday, August 14 at 11am, closing finally at 4.30pm. It will include the Huddersfield and District Fuchsia and Geranium Societies Open Show, the Yorkshire Gladiolus Societies Early Show and the Huddersfield Allotments and Gardens Federation Show. _ SOUTH Crosland and Netherton Gardeners’ Association Annual Flower and Vegetable Show – once again this delightful local show will be boxing above its weight on Saturday, August 20 at Netherton Methodist Church, Chapel Street in Netherton, with 79 classes including flowers, vegetables, floral art, confectionery and preserves as well as the ever popular childrens’ class. The show opens at 3.45pm with presentation of trophies at 5pm. Admission is 50p for adults. Children are free.
