THEIR beaming smiles and cute gurgles have already won the hearts of their parents.

Now Huddersfield Examiner readers are being given the chance to decide which little star will be crowned this year’s Baby of the Year 2011.

A total of 366 cuties – from birth to age three – have been entered in the prestigious contest, first launched in 1973.

They will have the chance to follow in the footsteps of Newsome toddler Daisy Whitaker – now almost two – who won the historic trophy last year.

Parents Kirsty Jacobs and Richard Whitaker are cheering on this year’s adorable tots.

Mum-of-one Kirsty entered her daughter Daisy just before her first birthday last year.

She admitted she was tempted by the opportunity of receiving some fantastic photographs to give away as festive gifts.

But Kirsty was stunned to hear her bouncing baby had been crowned the winner.

“We were all over the moon when we found out she had won,’’ she said. “It was the best feeling ever.

“I never thought we would even come close. There were so many gorgeous babies, but as the days went on we got closer and closer.

“I’m really pleased we entered and the trophy has taken pride of place in our living room.

“I’m so glad we did it.”

Scores of proud parents have been lining up in Queensgate Market’s Demonstration Zone over recent weeks to have their bonny babies pictured by John Woods Photography.

Now their cheeky smiles can be seen here in this special full-page colour supplement, which proved so popular when it appeared last week that we’re repeating it today.

People have until midnight tonight to cast their vote by phone or text.

Polling will then re-open for the favourite 20 babies on October 25 for another week.

The winner will be announced in early November.

All the lucky babies shown in our supplement today are in with the chance of being crowned Baby of the Year and taking home the winner’s historic engraved trophy, plus a fantastic 20 x 16 inch portrait photograph worth £275.

Two runners-up will also each receive 15 x12 inch portraits worth £225.

And it’s all for a good cause. This year, the Examiner is delighted to support Huddersfield Common Good Trust, with 15% from every call and text being donated to the charity which supports local causes.

So get voting now and see if your favourite is crowned the Examiner’s Baby of the Year 2011.

Please refer to the front and back pages of the supplement for details on how to vote.

Entrants can still buy their pictures from John Woods Photography in Byram Arcade.
