Whilst investigating Global Belly Laugh Day I discovered a sound to gladden any heart. On their website (www.bellylaughday.com) there are videos and photographs of people having a laugh around the world.
There is also a link to a brilliant YouTube video of the British swing band The Jive Aces performing the Morecambe and Wise (above) classic Bring Me Sunshine.
The film starts slow, with gloomy TV news being played to a nation of grumps, when a young man in a cafe begins to play the song whilst picking the melody on a ukelele.
Other musicians join in and the smiles start and become beams of appreciation when the song vamps up into a wonderful swing version.
The Jive Aces produced the video in 2011 and it won awards at film festivals. The track is on their King Of The Swingers album.
Anything that reminds me of Morecambe and Wise makes me smile and when it develops as did this, it's a double bonus. Unfortunately, this kind of research cost me an hour watching the band's other videos, and a tenner buying the album from Amazon.
