Our feature on a book charting the history of Moldgreen has gone global.

For orders for the book have come in from as far away as the USA.

The book, called Celebrating 150 Years in Moldgreen, has some great photos and has been written by former Huddersfield Town secretary George Binns, who has been a member of Moldgreen United Reformed Church for many years. He was Town secretary from 1974 until 1989 and then became stadium development administrator for the new stadium.

Proceeds will go to Moldgreen United Reformed Church to be used on good causes within the community.

George, 82, said: “We certainly sold the books well following the excellent feature, considering it is primarily of local interest. I have had orders from much further afield from people who have moved away and the furthest was from Boston Massachusetts, USA. We have also had considerable interest from the members of the Huddersfield and District Family History Society. We have around 180 books still available for sale which we hope might be bought as Christmas presents.

“Taking into account advertising and sponsorship we have to date raised just in excess of £1,500. If we can sell the remainder we will double that figure. This will enable us to do even more work within the community with our youth, school and family orientated projects in the Moldgreen area.”

Copies of the book priced £10 can be bought from Moldgreen Post Office along with the Nook and Cranny shop and Mark Wild hairdressers on Old Wakefield Road plus Mad Nevs barber’s shop on Wakefield Road.
