Pretty as a picture, Emma Booth of Paddock Junior and Infant School, was one of nearly 800 Kirklees schoolchildren who turned Huddersfield Town Hall into a blaze of colour for the Caribbean Carnival.
They donned spectacular costumes and danced to the music of Deighton High School Steel band, who played calypso and dance tunes.
The children – from 20 different schools – formed a carnival parade, led by Ansell Brodrick, a dancer and drummer. Each school interpretated a theme and they were all entertained by limbo and stilt dancers. North Star Steek Orchestra also performed.
