Rugby fan Winston Fell came across this old photo and now wants to find out all about it.

It shows Slaithwaite Rugby League Club in the 1930s or 40s and was taken by Holmfirth photographer Harry Bray who took photographs for the Examiner before it employed its own.

Winston, 73 – a lifelong Fartown and then Giants fan – said: “A friend was having a clear-out and found the photo. I understand the team was based at the Globe Inn (now The Silent Woman) and could have played at Two Gates field.”

Winston worked for Brook Dyeing Company for most of his working life and lives in Slaithwaite with wife, Susan. They have two children and four grandchildren.

He has always lived in Slaithwaite and was educated at Slaithwaite National School and then Royds Hall Grammar. Anyone who can help can phone Winston on 01484 843562.
