IT IS a real mood-change, an atmospheric view of one of our best-known landmarks, the mast at Emley Moor.

This dramatic photograph, taken by David Hill, of Waterloo, during the recent spell of windy and wet weather, shows the mast rising from bare trees silhouetted against the pale winter skies.

Emley Moor mast, which became operational in January 1971, is 330m (1,084 ft) high, and replaced the old metal one which came crashing down in icy conditions in March 1969.

The analogue signal from the mast was switched off on September 21 and TV viewers in the area are now part of the digital age.

If your eye has been caught by a different view of a familiar place then get out the camera and share your view of what makes Huddersfield so special.
