Three museum apprentices have been given the chance to curate an art exhibition in Brighouse.
The Sum of Summer, at the Smith Art Gallery from tomorrow, draws together seasonally-inspired paintings from the Calderdale Museums’ Collection and was put together by Christopher Wood, 21, Louise Harper, 20 and Oliver Clarke, 18.
Part of a drive to allow members of the public to view the lesser-seen artworks in the council’s archive, the exhibition has given the apprentices valuable work experience and has been an important element in their studies for an NVQ in Heritage Management.
The exhibition will run throughout the summer, ending after the Brighouse Festival in September.
The Smith gallery is on Halifax Road and open every day from 10am except Wednesdays and Sundays when it is closed all day.
