Overlooking the breathtaking Magdale Valley is the magnificent Greenfield House in South Crosland, home to the Hall family for almost a quarter of a century.

Malcolm and Christine Hall have undertaken extensive renovation and improvements to the home, in Church Lane, which they bought from new. As well as five immaculate and generously sized bedrooms, the property also incorporates an annexe, from which the couple ran a business for many years, and views which money simply can’t buy.

The couple have now lived in the residence for around 22 years, and have raised five children and six grandchildren here.

“It’s a real family home,” says Malcolm. “We’ve got a lot of room and the house used to be buzzing with family parties.”

In fact it was often a popular spot with his children’s friends and regularly resounded with life and
laughter.

The home enjoys sizeable living spaces, and has recently been extended by way of a superb orangery, which Malcolm lists as one of his favourite features.

“We can sit in the orangery in all weathers and soak up the views.

“It’s so nice to sit in the warmth and the comfort and watch the weather rolling across the valley below us.”

As well as adding the orangery to the ground-floor, the Hall family also ripped out and fitted a brand new kitchen just three years ago, to provide a room with modern white gloss units and a wealth of integrated appliances, including two ovens, a coffee maker, a wine cooler, and a dishwasher.

Making the most of the stunning surrounding countryside, the garden was extensively landscaped and has been maintained to an immaculate standard.

“When we first moved in, the garden was just knee-high brambles so we had the whole thing landscaped,” says Malcolm.

“We love living around here. We can walk from the house and be out in the countryside in no time, which was great when we had dogs.

“We’re only about three of four miles from Huddersfield town centre and on the edge of the Penine Way; we’re also close to Honley.

“Leeds and Manchester aren’t far away wither and we can fly from either airport.”

Malcolm and Christine are now retired and spend a lot of time at their other home in Cyprus.

They are now looking for a smaller base in the UK so they can split their time between Cyprus and England.

“We’ll be very sad to leave here because we love it,’’ commented Malcolm.

“We’ve got some fantastic memories here of course with the family, but we’ve got to be sensible and move on and give someone else the pleasure of living here.”
