The Marsden family is on the move again – this time to the Redditch area of North-East Worcestershire.

Moving around because of work has become second nature to the family who have even lived in Michigan in the USA for a couple of years.

This time however, they are quite sad to be leaving their spacious five-bedroom home in Highburton, and equally sad to leave the village itself which, they say, is a great ‘family village’.

Richard and Sarah Marsden, and their young family have owned the modern detached house in Birkhead Close since it was built by Barratt Homes in 2005.

Sarah said: “Richard, who works for a company making equipment for the oil industry, will now be based in Birmingham, so we looking in the Redditch area for a new home.

“We have loved living here in Highburton; it’s a very spacious home and a great party house because of the layout and access to the garden.

“It’s just a short walk to the school and the village centre. There’s a real community spirit in Highburton with plenty going on.’’

Since moving in, Richard and Sarah have created an ideal home for anyone who likes a private low maintenance rear garden with seating area, lighting and decking, plenty of room to park three cars at the front and a spacious contemporary interior with modern kitchen and bathrooms.

More recently the couple converted the former double garage to create an extra spacious room downstairs which is very versatile and could have a multitude of uses. They kept part of the original garage for storage purposes.

Walk into a spacious entrance hall and you’ll find a downstairs lavatory and useful coat cupboard on the right. To the left is a formal dining room.

The hallway then leads into a kitchen, with separate utility room, and into a large lounge which looks out over the rear garden, accessed by French doors.

This leads through into the additional room, created by the garage conversion, which is currently set up as a playroom but which could be an office, games room, gym or extra bedroom.

The large breakfast kitchen has integrated appliances and French doors out into the landscaped rear garden.

On this floor there is also the house shower room with double shower cubicle.

Sarah said: “We really have enjoyed living here, it’s a great family home with loads of space and plenty of storage. We’re also within walking distance of Kirkburton with a good range of shops and amenities.

“In Highburton there’s loads for families with Beaver and Scout groups etc, as well as quick access to local walks including Beldon Brook towards Lepton, which is popular with walkers. There are also tennis courts within walking distance and this area is good for people commuting via the M1.

“As well as all this, it’s a lovely quiet place in which to enjoy family life.’’

This is a great home with plenty of space, both inside and out, ideal for a growing family.
