WHAT could be better than spending a beautiful summer’s day aboard the Scarborough Flyer?

And here’s your chance to win a super day out on board these wonderful steam trains.

The Scarborough Flyer steam service will depart from Huddersfield again this summer heading for the popular Yorkshire coast resort with the lucky winners of our steam competition on board.

The Railway Touring Company’s steam specials will leave Huddersfield every Friday from July 22 to September 9, hauled by one of a pool of three magnificent historic locomotives, including 1933-built 6201 Princess Elizabeth, 1951 Crewe-built 70013 Oliver Cromwell and Black 5 5305.

Passengers will be able to sit back in The Scarborough Flyer’s restored vintage 1950s and 60s carriages to enjoy the journey steaming through York and through the pretty Vale of York, passing Kirkham Abbey on route for the coast.

The Flyer will reach Scarborough at approximately 1pm so travellers will have around four hours to enjoy the resort’s two sandy bays, ancient cliff top castle and other attractions.

Fares include standard at £49 (adult) or £120 for a family.

First class, which includes on board morning coffee and Danish pastries with tea and biscuits in the afternoon, is £75 (adult) or £190 for a family.
