EMLEY were Wembley-bound and heading for the greatest day in their history 25 years ago this month.
Managed by Gerry Quinn, the Welfare Ground club reached the final of the FA Vase and took 10,000 supporters with them to London.

Despite playing the better football and creating the weight of chances in the final against Colne Dynamoes, the Lancashire side won 1-0 with an extra-time strike from Stuart Anderson.
Emley did however manage to win the Northern Counties East League that season.
In the build up to the final the lads were given a smashing send-off by Miss Examiner Angela Shotton.

Even though the old club is now at Wakefield, AFC Emley is planning to mark the 25th anniversary of the village going to Wembley this month.
