PARTNERS and staff at a Huddersfield architects’ firm raced ahead to raise £1,200 for charity.

The nine-strong team from One 17 Design, based at Armitage Bridge, took part in a 10k charity run for Cancer Research at Wentworth Castle, Barnsley. Four of the runners finished in the top 20 out of a field of 500 competitors.

The team included Mark Lee, a partner of the company, who roped in fellow business partner Kevin Drayton after Mark’s wife Caroline had to back out due to shin damage. Despite not being a regular runner, Kevin made sure he finished the race to add to the money raised.

Jon Budd, associate and team organiser, who was joined by daughters Tilly and Erin, said: “We were delighted to raise a total of £1,200 for the Cancer Research.

“We all know someone who is affected in some way by the disease and we were only too pleased to get together to help others. We all enjoyed running as a team and have decided to take part again next year – so training will start in earnest once some of the team recover!”
