Transport and logistics specialist Bedfords Group, which has operations at Birstall, has announced two key appointments and the promotion of a long-standing employee.

James Schofield has been appointed to the dispatch team, having previously worked in haulage, while Anna Konarska, having previously worked for Hermes ParcelNet, joins the traffic and administration team.

Having worked for the Bedfords Group for the last seven years as a dispatch planner and supervisor, Alan Tranters has been promoted to assistant transport manager, where his main role will be to improve on traffic and dispatch operations.

Bedfords posted a 33% rise in profits last year, secured a five-year contract with the Daily Mail and recently completed the acquisition of RPL Transport.

Steff Pfadenhauer, managing director of Bedfords Group, said: “Our ambition is to grow the business and seek further partners in varying industries and therefore it’s essential to not only maintain and exceed our reputable standard of service but progress with a strong, skilful and experienced team, right across the board.

“One of our greatest assets is our employees and they are essential to the ongoing development of the Bedfords Group.”
