A HUDDERSFIELD man has taken up a post representing more than 1,000 marketing practitioners and students across Yorkshire.

Andrew Earnshaw, who runs Holmfirth-based Up and Running Marketing, has been elected chairman of the Mid-Yorkshire branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, which represents about 1,200 members and student members.

He said: “I want to encourage people to get as much from their membership as I do.

“We have an exciting programme of new activities planned for this year, focusing on emerging marketing techniques and technologies.

“I also want to encourage all local business people – non-members as well as members – to take advantage of the opportunities we bring and to find out how these new marketing techniques can help their businesses to grow and improve.”

Up and Running draws its clients from a wide range of businesses, from small and medium-sized firms to organisations with more than 100 outlets.

Mr Earnshaw sits at board level on a number of businesses, including mobile marketing and internet radio companies.

He is a chartered marketer and nationally registered marketing consultant.

Mr Earnshaw began working in sales before progressing to marketing consultancy.

He gained a post- graduate degree in marketing at Sheffield Hallam University, where he now delivers courses on behalf of Oxford College of Marketing to students sitting the professional diploma in marketing and the post-graduate qualification.
