MORE than half of all new financial services jobs are now based outside London – up from about 20% before the credit crunch, according to a survey.

Financial services recruiter BrightPool said its survey suggested that London’s dominance of the UK financial services jobs market was being eroded.

Edinburgh ranked top outside London with 1,995 financial sector job vacancies notified in April followed by Manchester with 1,992 vacancies and Leeds on 1,602.

BrightPool managing director Angela Hickmore said institutions could make a significant dent in their wage costs by moving jobs out of London.
