Online retailer Buy It Direct has delivered a rise in turnover and a four-fold increase in profits, its annual results show.

The BuyItDirect Group, based at Trident Business Park at Deighton, posted pre-tax profits of £2.4m for 2014-15 against earnings of £317,431 the previous years as sales rose to £105m from £100.5m before.

The group saw sales of home appliances double and the business now lays claim to being the largest independent home appliance retailer in he UK.

Managing director Nick Glynne (pictured) said the group had reaped the rewards of its policy of focusing on its customers, adding: “Without the shackles of public shareholders, we’re highly confident about the three-year growth plan we have in place.”

He said: “It’s clear that our strategy of old-fashioned retailing combined with cutting edge e-tailing and putting the customer at the centre of our business has paid off and we’re confident about the years ahead.”

The BuyItDirect Group has been a leading online retailer in the UK since 1999,. The group, which employs more than 150 staff, was one of the first websites in the UK to sell laptops online and quickly branched out to specialise in a number of different categories.

The group now operates a range of websites specialising in laptops, TVs and kitchen appliances – with websites including AppliancesDirect.co.uk, LaptopsDirect.co.uk, Furniture123.co.uk, AirConDirect.co.uk, DirectTVs.co.uk and ServersDirect.co.uk.
