MANUFACTURING firms showcased their latest developments at an event organised by the Calderdale and Kirklees Manufacturing Alliance.

And Huddersfield MP Barry Sheerman expressed his support for local manufacturers when he gave an address to guests at the event held at the Briar Court Hotel, Birchencliffe.

CKMA put the focus on companies that have successfully grown and developed their organisations through exporting – and have benefited from the help and support of the UKTI international trade services.

Ian Farquhar, managing director of wind energy at Lockwood-based David Brown Gear Systems Ltd, gave the 41 attendees a fascinating insight into how the company has developed into the wind energy market and outlined the exciting opportunities that this presents for the future.

Rosehill Polymers Ltd, Flexitallic Ltd and Heights Group were other local companies to give presentations presented – demonstrating that Yorkshire manufacturers are able to compete and win excellent business in the global market with their innovative products.
