LAW firm Chadwick Lawrence has bucked the downward trend in the property market – after doubling its conveyancing business in two years.

The firm, which has offices in Huddersfield, Halifax and Wakefield, saw diversification as the key.

As recession struck in 2008, the team worked to establish a series of alternatives, including cash rich investors, property developers offering shared equity schemes and various online introducers.

The plan has paid dividends with four new members of staff having been taken on to cope with the influx of work and the opening of three new offices in Birmingham, Sheffield and Liverpool.

Sarah Haller, head of conveyancing, said: ““We recognised that the recession meant diversify or die for conveyancing.

“A lot of our competition reduced their staff numbers, which meant when work did come in they weren’t able to cope.

“We looked to find different sources of leads and our perseverance paid dividends. The number of new cases has doubled in the space of two years and the team has grown to deal with demand.

“We’re dedicated to continuing our drive to further increase our market share in the Yorkshire region and beyond.”
